FAQ

Q: What forms will I need to fillout for registration?
A: There is an online registration form on the home page which contents medical and liability forms. If you cannot find them on the registration page, they are listed here: forms page.

Q: How do I register multiple students for FSM?
A: Under "Are you registering yourself for this event?" select "No, I am registering others" and fill out one entry per student. Please have each student listed under a unique student email address.

Q: What books or supplies do I need to buy?
A: There are no books or supplies to purchase for FSM. All necessary course materials will be provided.

Q: What is the age limit for the courses?
A: There is no official age limit, but the courses are designed for high school students and take place on a university campus. However, FSM has admitted several 7th and 8th grade students.

Q: Where are the courses held?
A: FSM courses take place on the IU Bloomington campus. Most courses are located in Ballantine Hall, but courses have been held in Chemistry, Jordan Hall, Kirkwood Hall, and Lindley Hall as well. Classroom locations and a campus map will be provided at the check-in table on the first day.

Q: Are there any prerequisites for FSM courses?
A: There are no official prerequisites. However, you can read the course descriptions available here to get an idea of the topics that will be covered in each class. Most courses are designed for a student who will be taking the corresponding course in the coming school year.

Q: Are there any clothing requirements for my classes?
A: Students enrolled in a Chemistry course will need proper attire in order to participate in lab exercises. This includes closed-toe shoes and long pants with no holes in them. Shorts and capri pants are not allowed. Long hair should also be pulled back.

Q: Do I need to take a class in both sessions?
A: No. We offer two sessions of classes in order to accommodate more students' schedules. If a course is offered in Session 1 and Session 2, the two courses will cover the same material.

Q: How do I edit my order?
A: Go to your original confirmation email and click on the EDIT ORDER link and log in. This will take you to an Order Details screen. Next to the registrant's name, click EDIT to open up your LIVE order form. You will see everything you already filled out and selected, originally. DO NOT UN-SELECT ANYTHING, as this will un-register your student for that course! Add the class(es) you would like, and continue to the payment screen. (If you have a relevant promo code, enter it in the box and click Apply, to apply the discount.) You will see a new GRAND total - which will include anything you previously selected on that order, as well as an Amount Due (at the bottom). If you have already made a payment, the Amount Due will only reflect what you just added to the order. Select your payment option, agree to the Terms and Conditions, and submit your order.

If you cannot find your original confirmation email, you can edit your order by going to the registration link and logging in. At the top of the blank registration form, click on VIEW MY REGISTRATIONS, and then click EDIT next to the order you wish to edit. This will take you to the Order Details screen, and you can follow the instructions, above.

Q. Where do I send the registration forms?
A. The registration forms will be collected by FSM personnel on the first day of class. (Location TBD)

Q: Does FSM accept students outside Bloomington?
A: Yes. However, we don't have the ability to provide housing, so they have to either drive or have transportation arranged.

Q: What is the final registration deadline?
A: Students may register for classes even up to the first day of class. However, we keep class sizes small to allow individualized attention, and so classes may fill up. Others may be closed without enough enrollment, and so it is advantageous to register early.

Q: When will this year's schedule be out? What are the dates of the courses? Will the dates be the same as last year?
A: The dates of our sessions vary slightly each year. Please check our website for the dates.
